Changelog

What changed, and when

Every change to how a tool behaves, which codec versions it uses, or what a guide or policy says is recorded here with its date.

  1. Launch

First release of PixWrench with 19 browser-based tools: image compressor (batch, before/after preview, target size), resize, crop, rotate and flip, HEIC to JPG, seven format converters (JPG, PNG, WebP and AVIF), SVG to PNG, image to PDF, QR code generator with a decode-based scan check, favicon generator, EXIF viewer and remover, blur and pixelate, and watermark.

  2. Codecs

Image encoding uses MozJPEG, libwebp, libavif and OxiPNG via jSquash (WebAssembly). HEIC decoding uses the browser’s own decoder where available and libheif-js 1.23.5 otherwise. QR scan checks use zxing-cpp via zxing-wasm 3.1.5.

  3. Guides

Published eight guides: compressing images, HEIC explained, JPG vs PNG vs WebP vs AVIF (with measured file sizes), social media image sizes, removing location data, whether QR codes expire, favicon sizes and DPI vs pixels for printing.

How we record changes

We add an entry whenever a tool’s output could change: a new codec version, a different default quality, a new metadata rule, or a fix to how files are read. Corrections to guides are logged with what was corrected. Purely visual tweaks and typo fixes aren’t listed. If you spot something that looks wrong, the contact page explains how to tell us, and the fix will appear here.

Because PixWrench runs in your browser, you always get the latest version when you load a page. There is nothing to update, and there are no old versions on our side holding copies of your files.
